The agency serves a six-county area (Adams, Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Lincoln and Okanogan Counties) known as Planning and Service Area 8 (PSA8). AACCW receives state and federal funds to develop, support and maintain a comprehensive and coordinated service delivery system for elderly and disabled adults. The objective of these programs is to maintain individuals at the most appropriate (least restrictive) level of service and to minimize premature or unnecessary residential care placement.

Sarah Simonson is the Veterans Service Officer for Douglas County. She assists with applying for Veterans Benefits, provides resources and referrals in the community for the Veteran’s needs, and controls the county’s Veterans Relief Funds.
Sarah Simonson served in the Air Force 1999 – 2004 as a Security Forces journeyman at the Air Force Academy with a deployment to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Southern Watch.
Sarah and family moved to Wenatchee to be closer to some good friends in 2009. Since then, the Wenatchee Valley has become home. She has spent 13 years being a stay-at-home mom. In 2015, she joined VFW Post 3617 (Wenatchee Valley) and has been active in the local veteran community since. She has served as the Quartermaster for VFW Post 3617, the Secretary on the Douglas County Veterans Advisory Board, and President of the board for Wenatchee Valley Veterans Hall. Read more…
Veterans of Foreign Wars – Wenatchee Valley Post 3617 (Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, Cashmere, Leavenworth, Rock Island, Waterville, Bridgeport)
Aside from community, this post offers various scholarships, food vouchers, utility assistance and transportation on a case-by-case basis. They also assist veterans, widows and dependent families throughout our community.
Monthly Potluck followed by Post and Auxiliary meetings: 3rd Wednesday of the month, starting at 6pm.
