American Legion Veterans Service organization. A place of camaraderie and assistance, with a dash of community service.

Membership in the American Legion is based on honorable service with the U. S. Armed Forces, at least one day of active military duty since December 7, 1941, either still actively serving or with an Honorable discharge. Read more…
WorkSource is a statewide partnership of state, local, and nonprofit agencies that provides an array of employment and training services to job seekers and employers in Washington.
Federal law entitles veterans and eligible spouses priority access to WorkSource services. This includes priority referrals to jobs that are listed with WorkSource, as well as other employment and training programs.
If you were discharged after 11 Sept 2001, you can sign up for intensive one-on-one employment support through the federal Gold Card program to help with your job hunt.
In addition to individualized job hunt support, local WorkSource offices host a variety of free classes and workshops on a regular basis, including Resume Writing, Job Search Strategies, Office Computer Basics, and Interview Practice Sessions.
In addition to providing employment assistance, WorkSource markets the advantages of hiring veterans to local businesses and connects veterans to services that help with health care, food, clothing, or housing.

The Veteran Services office is located in Wenatchi Hall room 2136 (lower level).
They assist military-connected students — prior service military, active duty personnel, national guardsmen, reservists, and family members — with accessing VA education benefits and other college funding. They are available to guide students through the application process, as well as provide referrals to other on campus and community resources.

“The Bunker is a place where the coffee is always hot and goodies are on the table. A place of no judgement and fun conversation. The Bunker is a home away from home. A place where Veterans can come for camaraderie with those you don’t have to explain anything to.”
Officially registered as NCW Veterans Serving Veterans, The Bunker (as it is more commonly referred to) is a non-profit in Wenatchee formed in 2008 for the sole purpose of helping veterans in need, whether the need be VA paperwork support, emergency assistance, or referrals to other veteran resources in the area. The Bunker is an all-volunteer run organization, with monthly board meetings open to the public on the second Wednesday of each month at 1000 at their location in Wenatchee.
Main area of support is Veteran camaraderie through coffee, snacks, games, and conversation. The Bunker also provides assistance with the VA system (healthcare, benefits, etc) such as filing claims and appeals. Volunteers with the Bunker are also known for proactive rapid response when veterans in need reach out. Thanks to the generosity of community donations, there is also a food, clothing, and toiletries pantry available for those in need.

John Tamngin is the Veterans Service Officer for Chelan County. With the help of his Administrative Assistant, Anna Witherington, the Chelan County Veteran Service Office assists with applying for Veterans Benefits and filing VA Claims, provides resources and referrals in the community for the Veteran’s needs, and controls distribution of the county’s Veterans Relief Funds.
